One is the expectation of expatriates, expatriates will get information 24 hours a day
The Praksha hotline service established to provide information to expatriates and their families has been integrated with the Prabasbandhu call center of the government. As a result, expatriates will get information 24 hours from now.
In a ceremony at the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment on Sunday, the Prabashi hotline service was handed over to the Wage Earners Welfare Board and merged with the Prabasbandhu Call Center.
In the event, Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry Imran Ahmad said that international migration and remittances are playing an important role in the development of Bangladesh. Immigration continues to be an important area for Bangladesh. Because we have a large population that is young in age. About two million people join the labor market every year.
He said that getting the right information is very important to make an informed decision about immigration. The Ministry has undertaken many activities to provide information to expatriates and potential immigrants. This is one such example.
Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Ahmed Muniruch Saleheen said that the Bangladesh government has prioritized immigration as a key area of national development. The Eighth Five Year Plan included a ten-point agenda to ensure safe, orderly migration. Migration awareness is key to the success of this plan.
Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board. Hamidur Rahman said, on behalf of the board, we are working tirelessly for the welfare of expatriate workers and their families. Prabasbandhu Call Center is an initiative that provides immigration related information to people. The integration of Prabasbandhu Call Center and Pradhya Call Center will now ensure better and constant access to information.
IOM Bangladesh Officer in Charge Fatima Nusrat Ghazzali said that migrants play an important role in the national development of Bangladesh with their remittances. However, there are challenges in the migration sector, including irregular migration and human trafficking. Providing accurate information plays an important role in addressing these challenges. I thank the Government of Bangladesh and the European Union for supporting the establishment of the Prakanda Hotline service to provide important information to migrants and their communities.
